ACT serves hundreds of individuals with disabilities throughout mid-Missouri who desire to be fully included and valued within the community.

We’re better as a society when everyone is a part of it. We strongly believe inclusion is within reach for any individual in our community. Social inclusion not only benefits the individual and their family members, it creates a ripple effect that benefits everyone.

What is social inclusion?

Being socially included means that a number of things are present in people’s lives.

Social inclusion means people:

  • Experience a sense of belonging
  • Are accepted (for who they are) within their communities
  • Have valued roles in the community
  • Are actively participating in the community
  • Are involved in activities based on their preferences
  • Have friends
  • “There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle, or the mirror that reflects it.” — Edith Wharton

  • “There is one way to look at things until someone shows us how to look at them with different eyes.” — Pablo Picasso

  • “Just because a man lacks the use of his eyes doesn't mean he lacks vision.” — Stevie Wonder

  • Transition Services and Career Placement Services assisted Nick with landing a job he loves. He is an asset to his team.
