Staci’s Opening Remarks Summer 2018

Staci Bowlen

Dear Friends of ACT,

I would like to take the time to let you know a little more about me. I was born and raised in Missouri and have deep roots in Columbia, having lived here for 18 years.

I have a teenage daughter who will be starting high school this year and I volunteer often, so I keep very busy. I am a member of the Women’s Network through the Columbia Chamber of Commerce and the Columbia Evening Rotary Club. I am also a CARF Program Surveyor.

For those of you not familiar with CARF, they are an organization comprised of industry professionals that provides accreditation services.  So my role is to visit other agencies in the United States that hope to obtain or maintain accreditation and provide them recommendations, consultation and support.

This allows me to network with other professionals in the field and keep up with best practice as it relates to the services and support we offer.

I started with ACT mid-June after having previously worked for over 16 years in various roles for a large provider of services in Missouri known as Easterseals Midwest.

Most recently, I served as the Vice President of Autism and Early Childhood Services at Easterseals Midwest and traveled within all 114 counties of the state to oversee service provisions.

I am glad to be back in my community of Columbia and with ACT.  I have known the great work ACT does within mid-Missouri, but not until I came to ACT did I know the extent of the services provided by this wonderful organization.

Our new fiscal year started on July 1, 2018 so I wanted to briefly share with you some of our strategic initiatives for the year.

There are four strategic areas of focus. Here is a bit more information on each of the four areas:

  1. We plan to continue to develop clear, consistent, and effective communication methods by increasing our social media presence and footprint and partnerships within the community.
  2. We plan to continue to enhance strategies designed to recruit and retain high quality employees by developing a compensation plan that is competitive and speaks to the needs of ACT and our employees.
  3. We plan to continue to focus on the growth and development of services by evaluating best practices. This also means we will explore new programs, and look at ways to improve our current outcome management system.
  4. We plan to continue to ensure the stability of ACT by adhering to effective and efficient business practices.

ACT’s vision is an inclusive community where everyone belongs, participates, and is valued. Everything we do here at ACT is based on our mission, vision, and values. In addition, we hold high regard for the individuals we support.

We know services cannot be provided without our exceptional employees. With these strategic initiatives as the driving force, ACT and those we support, we are destined for continued greatness.

Before I go, I am truly fortunate to be here at ACT.   I know that we will continue the legacy of inclusivity and acceptance for everyone.

I look forward to working with you all for many years to come.
