DSP Spotlight – Lindsey McGee

We’re celebrating DSP Week by spotlighting some of our compassionate and hard-working Direct Support Professionals and Career Specialists. They’re the heart of our industry. Because of their dedication, we’re able to help hundreds of individuals with disabilities live fulfilling lives in central Missouri.

Today we talked with Lindsey McGee. She’s a Direct Support Professional in our In-Home Services Program.

How long have you worked for ACT?

I’ve worked at ACT since June of 2018.

What’s your favorite memory while working at ACT?

Seeing how excited Sarah was when I told her we are going to the Sara Evans concert.

What brought you to this line of work?

My family works for ACT and I’ve enjoyed being around individuals with disabilities.

If you had a superhero name what would it be?

I’m not sure.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be, and why?

To teleport – I would love to think of a place and instantly be there, or not have to wait in line or traffic.

“She is a sweetheart and she is like my best friend.” – Sarah

“Lindsey is very responsible and is helping to teach Sarah to make good choices when spending her money. She got to break the surprise to Sarah that they are going to the Sara Evans concert together (later this month),
I loved seeing the smiles on both of their faces when I saw them after the surprise reveal! We are loving having Lindsey as Sarah’s Direct Support Professional.” – Jeanie, Sarah’s mom
